Eligibility: Open to legal residents of the 50 United States & the District of Columbia, 18 years of age or older as of 6/15/09, except employees, officers, directors, representatives & agents of Barnes & Noble College Booksellers, Inc., ("Sponsor"), Project Support Team, and their respective parents, subsidiary & affiliated companies, retailers, suppliers, distributors, advertising, promotion & administrative agencies & any of their agents & anyone connected with the production & distribution of this sweepstakes (hereafter, collectively "Released Parties") (& their immediate families (spouse, parent, child, sibling & their respective spouses, regardless of where they reside) & those living in their same household, whether or not related).

Void where prohibited. This sweepstakes is subject to all applicable federal, state & local laws & regulations.

To Participate: You may enter the sweepstakes in one of three ways: 1.) Visit www.playhardersweepstakes.com between 12:01 a.m. Eastern Time ("ET") on 6/15/09 & 11:59 p.m. ET on 9/15/09 ("Promotion Period") & follow the link to the Official Entry Page; then, complete & submit the official online Entry Form according to the instructions provided; 2.) Visit a participating bookstore location operated by Barnes & Noble College Booksellers, Inc. throughout the 50 U.S. and D.C. during the Promotion Period, complete an Official Entry Form (while supplies last) & deposit it in the Official Entry Box by close of business on 9/15/09 to be eligible; or 3.) hand print your complete name, address, city, state, zip code, daytime phone number (including area code), date of birth & e-mail address (optional) on a plain 3" x 5" paper, & mail it in an envelope with proper postage affixed to: Barnes & Noble Play Harder Sweepstakes, P.O. Box 17082, Bridgeport, CT 06673-7082. All mailed entries must be received by 9/21/09 to be eligible. There is a limit of one (1) entry per person and per email address and per household, regardless of the method of entry. Multiple entries from any one person, email address or household will void all but the initial entry. In the event of a dispute over the identity of an online entrant based on an e-mail address submitted, entry will be deemed submitted by the primary holder of the e-mail account and he/she must comply with these Official Rules. "Primary holder" is defined as the person assigned to an e-mail account by the entity responsible for assigning e-mail accounts for the domain associated with the entry in question. The use of any device to automate entry or any other means to subvert the entry process is prohibited & any such entries will be void. No photocopied, computer generated facsimiles, mechanically reproduced, or mass entries permitted and all such entries will be void. Released Parties are not responsible for lost, incomplete, illegible, stolen, undelivered, delayed, damaged, garbled, late, misdirected, postage due entries or mail or lost or stolen entry boxes, printing, typographical or other errors appearing in the Official Entry Form or these Official Rules, inaccurate entry or sweepstakes-related information or failures or malfunctions of internet connections, phones, phone lines, cable, satellite, Internet Service Provider (ISP), server, telephone systems; or technical or mechanical malfunctions, or other malfunctions, problems or errors, whether caused by equipment, programming used in this sweepstakes, processing or human errors or otherwise or for any other problems or errors of any kind, whether network, computer, mechanical, electronic, printing, typographical, human or otherwise, relating to or in connection with this sweepstakes, including, without limitation, errors or problems which may occur in connection with the administration of the sweepstakes, the processing of entries, the announcement of the prizes or in any other sweepstakes-related materials. Sponsor reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to void any entries of, and disqualify, entrants whom Sponsor believes has attempted to tamper with or impair the administration, security, fairness or proper play of this sweepstakes. All entries become the property of Sponsor & will not be returned. Winner Selection: Potential winners will be selected from among all eligible entries received in a random drawing conducted on or about 9/25/09 by Project Support Team, Inc., an independent judging organization whose decisions are final & binding on all matters relating to this sweepstakes. Potential winners will be contacted by telephone, U.S. mail and/or overnight express. Odds of winning a prize depends on the total number of eligible entries received.

Prizes: (1) Grand Prize: Textbooks for 1 Year awarded in the form of a $1,000 Barnes & Noble Gift Card (Approximate Retail Value ("ARV"): $1,000). Gift card is subject to terms and conditions set by Barnes & Noble. (1) First Prize: One (1) HP Pavilion dv4t laptop. ARV: $800. Prize is awarded "as is". Any and all warranties and/or guarantees on a prize (if any) shall be subject to the manufacturer's terms thereof, and a winner agrees to look solely to such manufacturer for any such warranty and/or guarantee, if any. (5) Second Prizes: Gift Bag of Lauren Conrad's Favorite Makeup and Accessories. Items selected to be included in the gift bag are at Sponsor's sole discretion. ARV: $300/each. (1) Third Prize: $250 Barnes & Noble Gift Card. ARV: $250. Gift card is subject to terms and conditions set by Barnes & Noble. Total ARV of all prizes is $3,550. Federal, state & local taxes & all other costs and expenses associated with prize acceptance and use not specified herein as being provided are the sole responsibility of the individual winners. Limit one (1) prize per person, per household and per email address. All prize details are at Sponsor's sole discretion. Prizes won by eligible minors will be awarded to a Parent or Legal Guardian who must sign all required documents.

General: No transfer, assignment, cash redemption, or substitution of a prize is permitted, except by Sponsor who reserves the right to substitute a prize with one of comparable or greater value, at its sole discretion. Potential Grand Prize winner will (and potential First, Second and Third Prize winners may) be required to execute & return an affidavit of eligibility, a liability release, & where allowed by law, a publicity release, within ten (10) days of date of issuance of notification. Failure to satisfy the foregoing, comply with these Official Rules or if any prize notification or prize is returned or is non-deliverable for any reason or Sponsor is unable to contact a potential winner within a reasonable time period, the prize will be forfeited & an alternate winner may be selected from all remaining eligible entries, at Sponsor's discretion. By entering, entrants agree 1) that Sponsor & its designees shall have the right & permission to use (if entrant is winner) entrant's name and/or picture and/or likeness or biographical information or voice for trade, advertising, promotional and/or any other purpose in any media now or hereafter known worldwide in perpetuity without any further consideration, permission or notification except where prohibited by law; & 2) that Released Parties shall have no liability & will be held harmless for any liability, loss, injury or damage, including, without limitation, personal injury, death or damage to personal or real property, to entrant or any other person or entity due in whole or in part, directly or indirectly, by reason of the acceptance, possession, use or misuse of a prize or participation in this sweepstakes, including travel to any participating location. Released Parties are also not responsible for any injury or damage to participant's or any other person's computer relating to or resulting from participation in this sweepstakes or downloading materials from or use of the website. If this sweepstakes is not capable of running as planned due to any cause, including but not limited to virus, bugs, worms, unauthorized human intervention, war, strikes, and/or acts of God, which corrupt or affect the administration, security, fairness, integrity or proper conduct of this sweepstakes, the Sponsor reserves the right at its sole discretion, to disqualify any individual who it believes has tampered with the entry process, and/or to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the sweepstakes & in the event of cancellation or termination, at its discretion, conduct a random drawing to award prizes from among all eligible non-suspect entries received prior to the event requiring such cancellation or termination.CAUTION: Any attempt to deliberately damage any website or undermine the legitimate operation of this sweepstakes is a violation of criminal and civil laws and should such an attempt be made, the Sponsor reserves the right to seek damages (including attorneys' fees) and/or other remedies from any such person(s) responsible for the attempt to the fullest extent permitted by law.
